Where do my files go?
Nowhere outside your browser. PDF Scene does not send them to a server for processing. When you export, the file is built locally and downloaded to your device (Free watermark, or no watermark with Pro).
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the app is loaded (service worker + OCR assets included), you can work without a connection. Editing, annotations, merging, and OCR stay on-device. A connection is needed for the first load and for Pro billing.
On mobile?
Yes. The UI adapts (panels on desktop, drawers and a floating toolbar on mobile). The goal is the same editing comfort as on a PC, without uploading your PDFs.
Why pay when others are free?
Classic “free” tools upload your PDFs. Here: 100% local, no account. You only pay to remove the watermark (€2.99 once, or unlimited Pro).
Can I export for free?
Yes, with no account. Free adds “Edited with PDFScene.com”. €2.99 removes the watermark for one export. Pro removes it with no limit.
Do I need an account to edit?
No. “Open a PDF” launches the tool with no signup. Pro payment goes through Polar. Free editing does not require an account.
Which editing features are available?
Page reorder and merge, rotation, blank pages, editing existing text (detection + OCR, unlimited), add text, shapes, highlight, draw, images, visual signature / paraph, unlimited undo/redo. The AI assistant (Pro) drives the canvas in natural language. Export is free with a Free watermark; Pro removes it.
