Open a protected PDF. Unlock it to edit

Import a locked PDF: PDF Scene asks for the password, decrypts the file locally, then opens the editor. You can annotate, fix text, organize pages, and export. Editing and export are free and unlimited. Free adds an “Edited with PDFScene.com” watermark; Pro exports without it.

Steps

  1. Open PDF Scene and import the protected PDF (button, drag-and-drop, or from the tool page).
  2. Enter the password in the unlock dialog, then confirm.
  3. Edit the document: text, annotations, pages, visual signature, and more.
  4. Export the result. Turn Password back on in Properties if you want to send it protected again.

Use cases

Reopen an encrypted contract you received, fix an HR attachment, or prepare an already locked file without using a cloud service.

Privacy

Decryption and editing stay on your device. The password is not sent to a PDF Scene server.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the PDF after opening it?

Yes. Once unlocked, the document behaves like a normal PDF in the editor.

Do my files leave my device?

No. Decryption and processing run locally in the browser.

What if I enter the wrong password?

The dialog shows an error and lets you try again. Cancel simply skips importing that file.
